This past year BBBSO celebrated its fourth year of the Go Girls! program. The 2009 - 2010 school year was our most successful year to date, with programs running in 17 schools throughout the Ottawa area. We had over 40 dedicated volunteers that delivered the Go Girls! program to over 200 children.

Every year we have the opportunity to work with terrific schools and match Big Brothers and Big Sisters with Elementary School Littles. We like to take the opportunity to recognize those terrific School Liaisons, as they help us to serve more children each year.

Go Girls invited to the Tim Horton's Camp in Tatamagouche Nova Scotia!!

Go Girls from several eastern agencies were invited to spend a week at the Tim Horton's Camp in Tatamagouche Nova Scotia to learn about communication, self esteem, and to challenge themselves to overcome fears and obstacles.

There were five girls who travelled to camp from Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa. Each of these girls received a bead for outstanding effort at camp. Beads are designated for specific achievements.

Our College placement students were an outstanding group of 18 Big Brothers and Sisters who committed to mentoring 36 Littles in 12 schools throughout the city. We have twenty more Big Brothers and Big Sisters mentoring children/youth in schools across Ottawa!

Last Friday completed our training session with the second group of high school Big Brothers and Big Sisters. These students will complete a two hundred hour coop placement with Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa (BBBSO). Nous avons vingt nouveaux Grands Frères et Grandes Sœurs de jumelés dans nos écoles.
