Chris Rose tells us about the second meeting of the Big Bunch group. Sounds like a great way to spend a Tuesday night!
"On Tuesday February 3rd the Big Bunch group met up for the second time for an evening of soccer and games. Because it was the second evening, everyone already knew each other and Bigs had a better idea of what to expect so activities ran smoother and quicker this week. The Littles came in full of energy and ready to run around. After shooting some hoops while we waited for the rest of the group to arrive, the night's main focus began. Soccer! We were fortunate to have two volunteers from the University of Ottawa GeeGee's Women's Varsity Soccer team, Laurel and Megan, come to the school and show the group some skills, drills and games. The Littles played variations of tag, ran obstacle courses, played British Bulldog and of course scrimmaged. In fact, the Littles in net were so talented that neither team was able to score a goal and the game ended as a tie.
Following the scrimmage the bunch broke into two groups, one played Dr. Dodgeball while the other showed the Lady GeeGees their soccer skills by playing a game of one touch. These games lasted until the end of the evening until we had to stop the fun to take care of some paperwork. A BIG thanks goes out to Megan and Laurel for showing the group such a fun filled evening of running, dribbling and kicking. It was a great experience to have athletes from the University of Ottawa join the group for an evening and we hope to continue to involve members of the wider community in our group."
