As word spreads about our current decision to halt enrollment in our traditional match program, we are thrilled to see community support for our programs.

Since September, our Mentoring Coordinators have been creating InSchool matches weekly. Bigs and Littles in this program meet up once a week over the school year. You may be asking yourself, how much of a difference can once a week make... well hear it from the kids.

While we ask our volunteering in the traditional match program to establish their friendship for one year, we often have matches that last much longer. Ronald and Curtis are one of our graduated matches. During the graduation ceremony help last April, Ron also received a 10 year tenure award from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada. Over 100 volunteers, Littles, parents and supporters gathered at the Crowne Plaza for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa (BBBSO) BIG Wrap-Up to celebrate volunteerism. Many awards were presented to various BBBSO supporters and we are thrilled to announce the 2009 Mentor of the Year, Big Brother David Sullivan.

Il y a eu plusieurs présentations et certificats distribués pendant la soirée et nous sommes excités d'annoncer le récipient du Prix du mentor de l'année, Grand Frères David Sullivan.

MasterCard Canada and Roots Canada have officially kicked-off the holiday season by launching Give a Little for Something Big, a national in-store fundraising initiative in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada's (BBBSC) In-School Mentoring Program.   

MasterCard Canada et Roots Canada ont donné le coup d'envoi aux temps des Fêtes en procédant au lancement de la campagne nationale Un petit don pour une grande cause, qui vise à amasser des fonds au profit du programme Mentorat à l'école des Grands Frères Grandes Sœurs du Canada (GFGSC).   

For almost 10 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa (BBBSO) has seen consistent growth in our InSchool Mentoring Programs. Volunteers in these programs mentored 509 children from all four school boards last school year. This year, we are excited to have the opportunity to serve more children thanks a grant received by the Ontario Minister of Education.

Depuis près de 10 ans, les programmes de mentorat de Grands Frères Grandes Sœurs d'Ottawa (GFGSO) affichent une croissance soutenue. En effet, l'année dernière, les bénévoles participants à ces programmes ont parrainé 509 enfants inscrits aux quatre commissions scolaires; cette année, nous sommes très fiers de rejoindre encore plus d'enfants grâce au financement reçu du ministère de l'Éducation de l'Ontario.
