Go Girls from several eastern agencies were invited to spend a week at the Tim Horton's Camp in Tatamagouche Nova Scotia to learn about communication, self esteem, and to challenge themselves to overcome fears and obstacles.

There were five girls who travelled to camp from Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa. Each of these girls received a bead for outstanding effort at camp. Beads are designated for specific achievements.

Blue - Goals Setting and Achievement

Yellow - Responsible Leadership

Green - Environmental consciousness

Orange - Adventurous and creative

Red - Team work and friendship

Brianna - received her Blue bead for goal setting, as she set a goal to go on the giant swing!  (pssst... She did much better than that; she got pulled another 3 meters into the air to create a huge pendulum!!)

Nicole - received her Yellow bead for leadership while making frames and encouraging her friends at Archery (pssst... Nicole designed a beautiful frame with a soldering pen, and then helped her fellow campers to design and create theirs. Great leadership!)

Abigail - received her Orange bead for being adventurous and trying every activity at camp (rock climbing, giant swing, archery...).

Shina - received her Red bead for team work while at the giant swing. (pssst... Shina was the strongest Archer at Camp; her arrow went the farthest).

Rachel - Rachel received a Green bead for being environmentally conscious and leading the clean up after the shelter activity. (pssst... Rachel also celebrated a Birthday at camp!).

Every Little achieved something that they had set out to do on the first day, whether that was getting a bead, seeing the ocean or flying on an airplane, everyone had at least one terrific story to tell.

All of the Littles wrote thank you card to the Tim Horton's Camp personnel and to the store owners who sponsored them, and allowed them to go to camp.

So, the next Tim Horton's Camp day is June 2nd 2010!!

Be sure to donate and send a kid (and maybe a Little) to camp.
